World Day of the Poor
Eucharistic Adoration and
Stations of the Cross
In recognition of the World Day of the Poor on Sunday, November 17, the St. Lawrence Social Justice Ministry will be participating in Eucharistic Adoration on Thursday, November 14, from 5 pm until Friday, November 15, at 5 pm.
We invite you to pray for the poor during the hours of adoration and to join us at 5 pm Friday, November 15 for a Stations of the Cross for the Poor.
The World Day of the Poor was established by Pope Francis in 2017 as a day dedicated by the Church to “reflect on how poverty is at the very heart of the Gospel.” This year's theme is “The prayer of the poor rises up to God.” Pope Francis invites everyone to learn to pray for the poor and to pray together with them, with humility and confidence. The World Day of the Poor is an opportunity to become aware of the presence of the poor in our cities and communities and to understand their needs.
